What is a “Dot Com Leak”?

When a company or a brand registered a domain name, instead of using a dot com, for whatever the reason, decided to use another top level extension such as .net, .io, .us, or .co.

Sometimes, it’s not just domain extensions. When people were in a hurry, domain names were entered incorrectly with missing letters or extra letters.

Therefore from time to time, customers, vendors, or even employees habitually typed in the incorrect domain names or extensions as part of routine daily work, to register for a new service, email confidential documents, or even to receive 2 factor authentication codes.
